TLC on silica with hexane - ether acetic acid 80:20:1. Typical overall product yield 60-80 % of the theory. Product resistant to acid hydrolysis in 7 % HCl in methanol for 4 h at 60 °C, conditions that hydrolize cholesteryl oleate.
