      J. Planar Chromatogr. 12, 392-394 (1999). TLC of seven intermediates from all steps of the syntheses of oxazepam on silica gel. After cleaning the plate by successive development with chloroform - ethyl acetate 3:1 and aqueous NH3 - methanol 1:9, chromatography with chloroform - acetone and chloroform - ethyl acetate mixtures in different ratios in previously saturated N-chambers. The optimum chromatographic system for related compounds was found to be chloroform - ethyl acetate 3:1. Detection under UV 254nm.

      High-performance thin-layer chromatographic detection of 1,4-benzodiazepines

      J. Planar Chromatogr. 13, 468-470 (2000). HPTLC of alprazolam, chlordiazepoxide, diazepam, lorazepam, nitrazepam, oxazepam on silica gel with chloroform - acetone 4:1. Detection under UV 254 nm. Visualization by spraying with 1% sulfuric acid and heating at 100°C for 10 min. After cooling, the plate was sprayed with 10% ammonium chloride solution and then, after 5 min, diazotized with sodium nitrite reagent and treated with N-(1-naphthylethylenediamine) in ethanol. Intense violet spots were immediately observed for ClDz, Nz, and Oz. Simple, rapid procedure.

Detection and quantification by videodensitometry at 254 nm and by classical densitometry at 263 nm for enoxacin, 290 nm for ofloxacin, and 275 nm for pefloxacin. Precision, expressed as RSD, was between 7.56 and 10.08.

      Determination of fluoxetine and paroxetine in pharmaceutical formulations by densitometric and videodensitometric TLC

TLC of fluoxetine [N-methyl-3-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-3-phenyl-propylamine]and paroxetine [(-)-trans-5-[(4-p-fluorophenyl-3-piperidyl)methoxy]-1,3-benzodioxol]on silica gel with benzene - acetone - ethanol - NH3 9:7:2:1. Detection of fluoxetine by densitometry at 218 nm and of paroxetine at 293 nm. Video densitometry at 254 nm for both drugs. The range of linearity was 2-10 µg/spot for fluoxetine and 0.5-8 µg/spot paroxetine. RSD was less than 4.3% for densitometry and less than 4.9% for videodensitometry. New, simple, rapid, and accurate methods.
