TLC of twenty different phenothiazine bases on silica with a) ether - ethyl acetate - NH3 (1:1 saturated), b) methanol - butanol 6:4, c) dichloromethane - methanol 5:1 and d) chloroform - isopropanol - NH3 70:30:1. Detection with 10 % H2SO4 in ethanol. The system permits to distinguish all phenothiazines from each other.

Validation of the method by investigation of its linearity range (0.5 µg - 5.0 µg, r = 0.999); precision (RSD = 0.98 %, n = 5); its reproducibility of five time assay towards the same sample (RSD = 2.52 %); standard addition recovery (101.6 %, RSD = 0.26 %, n = 5). The results for three real life samples are given. Discussion of the application of the procedures for the quality control of the medicine.
