      Development of stability-indicating HPTLC method for the determination of trandolapril in bulk drug and pharmaceutical dosage form

      60th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress PA-195, (2008). HPTLC of trandolapril on silica gel with toluene - ethyl acetate - methanol - formic acid 5:16:2:1. The hRf value of trandolapril was 51. Trandolapril was subjected to different stress conditions like acidic and alkaline hydrolysis, oxidation, dry heat, wet heat, neutral condition and photodegradation. The degradation products were well resolved from the pure drug. Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 220 nm. Linearity was between 300-1800 ng/spot. The method was suitable for routine analysis of the drug in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form.

Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 265 nm. The limit of detection and quantification was 20 µg/L (40 ng/band) and 40 µg/L (80 ng/band), respectively.

HPTLC of lipids (cholesterol, oleic acid, triolein, methyl oleate, cholesteryl oleate as standard) on silica gel with hexane - ether - acetic acid 40:10:1. After drying at 115°C for approx. 15 min the lipids were detected as blue spots on a yellow background by spraying with 5% ethanolic phosphomolybdic acid and heating for 15 min at 115°C. Quantitation by densitometry at 700 nm.

      Development and validation of HPTLC technique for simultaneous estimation of gatifloxacin and ornidazole in solid dosage forms

      Abstract No. F-347, 61st IPC (2009). HPTLC of gatifloxacin and ornidazole on silica gel with dichloromethane - methanol - 25 % ammonia 95:10:3. The hRf value was 16 and 60 for gatifloxacin and ornidazole, respectively. Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 302 nm. The method was linear in the range of 20-200 ng/band for gatifloxacin and 50-500 ng/band for ornidazole. Recovery was between 100.4 and 101.9 for both drugs.
