Qualitative and quantitative determination and purity control of ursodeoxycholic, chenodeoxycholic, deoxycholic, ursocholic, cholic, and lithocholic acid by HPTLC on silica with chloroform - acetone - acetic acid 70:20:1. Detection by spraying with 20% phosphomolybdic acid in 95% ethanol and heating at 105°C for 5 min. Quantification by densitometry at 710 nm. RSD of the peak area of UDCA (200 ng) was less than 1%. Simple and rapid quantitative method.

Determination of the lipophilicities of sixteen N-substituted amides of a-piperazine-g-hydroxybutyric acid by TLC on silica gel RP-18 with a mixture of methanol, Tris buffer, and acetic acid as the solvent system. The RM value of each compound decreased linearly with increasing concentration of methanol. The partition coefficients (log P) of the amides were calculated using the Prolog P module of the Pallas system.

      Stability-indicating densitometric determination of some antidiabetic drugs in dosage forms, using TLC

      Mikrochim. Acta 128, 65-68 (1998). TLC of gliclazide, glipizide, glibenclamide and cyclohexylamine (as degradation product) on silica gel with chloroform - methanol 9:1 for and glipizide and chloroform - cyclohexane - acetic acid - ethanol 9:9:1:1 for glibenclamide. Visualization under UV 254 nm. Quantitation by densitometry at 230, 275 and 300 nm. Recoveries are in the range of 100.4 - 101.0% and RSD in the range of 0.6 - 0.7%. - The proposed methods, being stability-indicating, accurate, specific and of high precision can be recommended for the routine analysis, quality control and stability assurance of the investigated drugs in pure form and in dosage forms.

Validated HPTLC on silica gel with ethyl acetate - methanol - acetic acid 80:19:1 for ca. 15 min. Quantitation by absorbance measurement at 300 nm (polynomial regression). Recovery was found to be between 99,0 and 101,3 %, repeatability was 0,1 % for aspirin and 2,2% for salicylic acid (n=2). HPTLC method is preferred to HPLC method because of its speed (14 samples in 30 min).

Ketoconazole was determined on spherical silica gel with n-hexane - acetone 4:1 and coenzyme Q10 on silica gel with n-hexane - chloroform - methanol 5:4:1. Detection under UV 254 nm and at 505 nm for neomycin after spraying with a solution of 20 mg ninhydrin, 50 mg cadmium acetate and 0.2 ml acetic acid in 10 mL of ethanol and heating at 80°C for 10 min.

Quantitation by densitometry at 247 nm. The method was validated for linearity (linear within the range of 120 - 1600 ng/spot), homogeneity, detection limit (30 - 300 ng/spot), accuracy (indicated by the percentage mean recovery: 99.63 - 101.30%) and range. Simple and validated TLC method.
