The Cumulative CAMAG Bibliography Service CCBS contains all abstracts of CBS issues beginning with CBS 51. The database is updated after the publication of every other CBS edition. Currently the Cumulative CAMAG Bibliography Service includes more than 11'000 abstracts of publications between 1983 and today. With the online version you can perform your own detailed TLC/HPTLC literature search:

      Biochemical Systematics and Ecology 14, 307-310 (1986). Isolation and purification of iridoid glucosides, cornoside acetate and glucose. TLC on silica with dichloromethane - methanol - water 70:30:3 for iridoid glycosides and toluene- acetone 7:3 for cornoside acetate. Detection with vanillin 3 % and sulfuric acid 1 % in ethanol as spray reagent, followed by heating at 110 °C for 5 min. Separation of glucose with acetonitrile - CS2 - water 85:5:10, spray reagent thymol 1 % and sulfuric acid 3 % in ethanol.

      Merck Spectrum (Darmstadt) 2, 60-61 (1988). TLC separation of sugars (rhamnose, xylose, arabinose, galactose) on silica with acetonitrile - water 85:15. Detection by spraying with naphtoresorcinol - sulfuric acid. Spray reagent: 0.2 g naphthalene-1,3-diol dissolved in 10 mL ethanol with some drops concentrated sulfuric acid added cautiously. For optimum color development followed by heating to 120°C.

Detection by spraying with 0.015 mol/L potassium periodate in 0.12 mol/L HCl, and 0.5 % diphenylamine in ethanol. Quantification by densitometry at 296 nm.

The plates were developed once, and spots were visualized by spraying the plates with 5 % sulfuric acid in methanol, followed by heating at 120 °C for 5 min.

Detection by spraying with a mixture of phosphoric acid (6.8 mL), urea (3 g) and ethanol (8 mL) in 100 mL of 1-butanol – water 8:1, followed by heating at 120 °C for 10 min. Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 450 nm.

      Determination of inulin in foods

TLC of mono- and disaccharides (with D(-)-fructose and D(+)-sucrose as standards) before and after hydrolysis - (30 min with 1 % oxalic acid in a boiling water bath) - on silica gel with acetonitrile-diluted phosphate buffer solution pH 5.5 17:3. Detection by immersion of the plate for 1 s into a solution of 2 mL aniline and 2 g of diphenylamine in 100 mL methanol and 15 mL o-phosphoric acid (85 %) and heating for 10 min at 120°C. Quantitation by densitometry at 560 nm in absorption/transmission mode. Improved and simple method for the determination of fructan inulin in yoghurts, honey cakes and chocolates.
