The Cumulative CAMAG Bibliography Service CCBS contains all abstracts of CBS issues beginning with CBS 51. The database is updated after the publication of every other CBS edition.       Development and validation of HPTLC method for the estimation of almotriptan malate in tablet dosage form

Quantitative determination by densitometry in absorbance mode at 300 nm. The calibration curve was linear over the range of 100-700 ng/band for almotriptan malate. The method was successfully applied to the analysis of drug in a pharmaceutical form.

      Visualization method for sulfolipids and its application to the determination of nanomole quantities of lipid sulfur

Description of a simple visualization method for sulfolipids on TLC plate, based upon formation of complex between anionic sulfolipid and blue cationic compounds by spraying with an acidic solution of azure A. Detection limit 0.5 nmole of sulfolipids without interference from other lipids. Visualization of sulfolipids as clear dark blue bands on a light blue background after the unbound dye washed out by brief soaking in methanol.

The procedure consists in the vaporizing of the reagent using a microwave-oven. The advantage of the method is illustrated by the flavonoid detection TLC of flavonoids on silica with ethyl acetate - formic acid - water 8:1:1.

      A new method of derivatization in planar chromatography

Detection by overpressure derivatization (OPD), which is carried out by pressing an absorbent polymeric pad (prewetted with derivatization reagent) on the TLC plate. Relative standard deviations obtained showed that OPD was more reproducible than spraying. Quantification by densitometry (absorbance at 420 and 288 nm after derivatization).

      New reagent for detection of amino acids on TLC plates

      J. Planar Chromatogr. 19, 252-254 (2006). TLC of 22 amino acids on silica gel with n-propanol - water 7:3. Detection by spraying with 0.25 % 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone in ethanol, followed by drying in the air at room temperature and heating in an oven at 110 °C for 10 min. After cooling spraying with 0.4 % isatin in ethanol. Visual detection of spot colors (varying from yellow, to orange, pink, purple, and gray). Detection limits were determined visually and ranged from 0.01 µg (cystine and arginine) to 0.30 µg (isoleucine, phenylalanine, methionine, aspartic acid, and glycine).

Detection by srpaying with 10 % copper(II) sulfate in 8 % phosphoric acid. Quantitation by scanning with a flatbed scanner and a gel analysis software. Intermediate/interday/intra-day precision was below 10 % CV (n=6).
