Quantitation by scanning in absorbance mode at 390 nm after deivatization with a saturated solution of sodium sulfide and at 530 nm after deivatization with a mixed solution of 2,2’-bipyridine and iron(II) sulfate.

Study of the chromatographic behavior of 4 mixed tric(b-diketonato)-Co complexes, 3(b-ketoiminato)-Cu(II) complexes, 2 tris(alkylxanthato)-Co(III) complexes and 5 bis(alkylxanthato)-Ni(II) complexes on CN-plates with 15 mobile phases. The spots of individual complexes were visible owing to their natural colors.

      J. Planar Chromatogr. 28, 343-351 (2015). TLC of cobalt(II) (1) and copper(II) (2) on silica gel impregnated with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide micelles in water. The mobile phase was acetone - 3 M hydrochloric acid 99:1 with 2.6 mM hexamethylenediamine. Detection by spraying with 1 % potassium ferrocyanide for (1) or 1% dimethylglyoxime solution in ethanol for (2). Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 470 and 615 nm, respectively. The hRF values for (1) and (2) were 65 and 26, respectively. The LOD was 0.02 ng/L for (1) and 0.1 µg/L for (2).
