Identification of Angelica species – Transfer of method from HPTLC to HPTLC PRO

Angelica is the genus of about 60 known species, among them Angeliga gigas, A. dahurica, A. sinensis, A. acutiloba and A. pubescens. This method identifies roots and rhizomes of these species by HPTLC fingerprints.

The method adopted in the International HPTLC ATLAS for identification of herbal drugs concerning roots and rhizomes of Angelica spp. was transferred from HPTLC to HPTLC PRO. This application note illustrates the different steps of the method transfer from HPTLC to HPTLC PRO. A comparison of results obtained with the two system configurations is shown. The initial method uses standard conditions according to the general chapter <2.8.25> of the European Pharmacopoeia.
