      (Quantitative determination of ephedrine chloride in Tongxuan Lifei pills by thin-layer chromatography

Detection by spraying with 0.5 % ninhydrin in ethanol followed by heating at 105 ºC for a few minutes. Quantitative determination at 510 nm. Validation of the method by investigation of linear range of the calibration curve (0.42 - 2.10 µg/spot, R = 0.999), precision (RSD = 2.1 %, n=6 within plate and 2.7 %, n = 5 plate-to-plate), reproducibility (RSD = 2.3 %, n = 5), and recovery (98.1 %, n = 6). The results obtained by using the method are given towards some real-life samples.

      Validation and application of an HPTLC method for the determination of parthenolide in feverfew herbal products

      J. Planar Chromatogr. 17, 375-378 (2004). HPTLC of parthenolide and extracts of feverfew capsules on silica gel with ethyl acetate - n-hexane 3:2 in glass chambers presaturated for 30 min. Detection by dipping in p-anisaldehyde reagent and heating at 105 °C for 5 min, followed by immediate densitometric scanning at 543 nm. The method is precise with CV < 5%; calibration recovery of 101.12 +/- 4.11 % and overall accuracy of 101.14 +/- 4.47 %. The levels of parthenolide in the products analyzed ranged from 0.03 to 0.24 %.

Identification by fingerprint technique. Quantification of ginsenoside Rg1 by HPLC. The results for three real life samples are given.

Detection with diphenylboric acid 2-aminoethylester (natural products reagent) followed by PEG reagent. For soyasaponins chloroform - methanol - water 6:4:1 was used. Detection by spraying with anisaldehyde - sulfuric acid reagent followed by heating at 115 °C.
