      High-performance thin-layer chromatographic method for simultaneous estimation of benzhexol hydrochloride and trifluperazine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations

      Abstract No. F-248 61st IPC (2009). HPTLC of benzhexol HCl and trifluperazine HCl on silica gel with methanol - acetone - toluene - 25 % ammonia 10:10:70:1. The hRf value was 37 and 82 for trifluperazine and benzhexol respectively. Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 210 nm. The method was linear in the range of 40-800 ng/band for benzhexol and 100-2000 ng/band for trifluperazine. Recovery was 99.7-99.9 % for both compounds.

HPTLC of salbutamol silphate and guaiphenesin, used as pharmaceutical syrup against cough, on silica gel with ethyl acetate - methanol - 25 % ammonia 15:3:2. The hRf value was 47 and 65 for salbutamol and guaiphenesin, respectively. Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 280 nm. The method was linear in the range of 200-1000 ng/band for salbutamol and 10-15 µg/band for guaiphenesin.

Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 230 nm. There was no significant difference in the determined content of alprazolam and fluoxetine by HPTLC and HPLC methods (assay results compared by applying the paired t-test).

The hRf value of aspirin was 15 and of clopidogrel bisulphate 80. Quantitative determination by absorbance measurement at 220 nm. The method was linear in the range of 2-6 µg/spot for aspirin and 3-6 µg/spot for clopidogrel.

HPTLC of [14C]-L-arginine and [14C]-L-citrulline of a nitric oxide synthase conversion assay in mitochondria rat liver, on silica gel with butanol - acetic acid - water 3:1:1. Detection by dipping in a solution of 2 % ninhydrin in acetone, followed by heating on a plate heater for 1 min. After visualization, the plates were exposed to X-ray film for 4.5 days.

      Development of validated HPTLC & HPLC methods for estimation of citicoline sodium in tablet dosage form

      IPA Convention, 2010, RA-PO 35. HPTLC of citicoline sodium in tablet formulation on silica gel with chloroform - methanol - water 3:7:3. The compound was well resolved with an hRf value of 53. Densitometric measurement at 280 nm. The method was linear in the range of 300-900 ng/band. HPLC analysis was performed on RP18 column using 1 % formic acid - methanol 19:1. Results obtained with either method were comparable.
