Quantification by densitometry at 278 and 230 nm (absorbance). The method shows good sensitivity (0.005 or 0.03, respectively at 230 nm) and recovery rates (ca. 90%). Determination of the grade of ethoxylation on silica with ethyl acetate - acetic acid - water 40:7:5. Detection under UV 366 after derivatization with eosin. It may be used as an alternative to HPLC procedures.

TLC of lipopeptide biosurfactant produced by the marine Aneurinibacillus aneurinilyticus SBP-11 on silica gel with 96 % ethanol – water 7:3 for peptides, chloroform – acetic acid – water 6:3:1 for sugars and chloroform – methanol – water 65:25:4 for lipids. Detection by spraying with ninhydrin reagent for peptides, anthrone reagent for sugars and rhodamine B reagent for lipids. The hRF values for peptides and lipids were 73 and 45, respectively.
