      Chromatographia 22, 109-116 (1986). TLC of some metal ions on silica with 23 solvent systems containing formic acid. Detection by spraying with various reagents. Semi quantification of 9 cations. DMSO, acetone and MEK containing varying concentrations of formic acid were found to be suitable for many analytically important separations of cations.

The chromatographic behavior of nineteen metal ions has been investigated on thin layers of plain silica gel and silica gel impregnated with potassium, sodium, strontium, and cadmium chlorides, silver and uranyl nitrates, and lanthanum oxide. Aqueous solutions containing formate ions were used as eluents. The effects of level of impregnation and of mobile phase pH on the mobility of metal ions have also been examined. Many possible ternary separations of metal ions have been presented.
