Macrocyclic antibiotic vancomycin used as a chiral mobile phase additive, with acetonitrile as the organic modifier, 0.6 M sodium chloride added to all mobile phases. Discussion of the influence of both the nature of the stationary phase and the composition of the mobile phase on the enantiomeric resolution. The best results were obtained with diphenyl stationary phases.

Models of retention were used to predict RF values and the values calculated were compared with those obtained experimentally. The widths of spots were also predicted and compared with the actual widths.
