CAMAG always recommends updating to the latest version.

Related to Version 1.4.4 (released 6 June 2008)

This version has been tested and released on Windows XP SP2 and reduced testing has been performed for Windows Vista Business.

     New features & bug fixes

  • Support of TLC-Visualizer added
  • A number of optimizations and bug fixes have been implemented

    Limitations

  • XP security Patch KB926436 should not be installed respectively should be de-installed
    (Error message: "The procedure entry point_resetstkoflw could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll.")
  • winCATS help under Vista: Installation of a compatible WinHlp32.exe required and avaliable from Microsoft
  • Support of G2 & G5 cameras has been discontinued by Canon and will therefore not be available for Vista

 


Related to Version 1.4.3 (released 6 July 2007)

This version has been tested and released on Windows XP SP2.

     New features & bug fixes

  • New option Image Comparison Viewer available
  • New option Professional Image Enhancement available
  • A number of optimizations and bug fixes have been implemented

    Limitations

  • XP security Patch KB926436 should not be installed respectively should be de-installed

Related to Version 1.4.2 (released 5 May 2006)

This version has been tested and released on Windows XP SP2.
Several problems of version 140 and 141 have been solved.
Free update for updating to version 142 has been extended to approx. 22 months.

     New features & bug fixes

  • Support of ADC2 added
  • Option 2WL (not working in 141) has been fixed
  • Input for substance amounts and/or purity corrected (4 digits)
  • A number of optimizations and bug fixes have been implemented

     Limitations

  • XP security Patch KB926436 should not be installed respectively should be de-installed

Related to Version 1.4.1 (released 16 Dec 2005)

This version has been tested and released on Windows XP SP2.
Several problems of version 140 have been solved. For all users of version 140 we recommend to update to version 141.
Free update for updating to version 141 has been extended to approx. 18 months.

     New features & bug fixes

  • Support of G2/G5 again added
  • Digistore2 cropping to clipboard and annotations items
  • Import / Export of CPF files for Videoscan analysis implemented
  • All at version 140 mentioned limitations have been solved

     Limitations

  • Translationfiles (*.tra) can no more be used
  • Videocamera HVC20 is no longer supported
    (upgrade offer for HVC 20 customers to DigiStore 2)
  • Option 2WL is not working
    Customers using 2WL should not install this version!
  • Migration distances can not be manually entered
    Use Rf mode for entering peak positions manually (a later switch to MD without manual input is possible)

 


Related to all older winCATS versions up to version 1.4.0.
Please make sure to disable 'hyperthreading' when using winCATS. Hyperthreading maybe available on a new PC with Pentium 4 (or similar) CPU with 3.0GHz or faster clock frequency. It needs to be disabled in the BIOS.

Related to Version 1.4.0 (released 21 June 2005)

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP2.
Due to limitations with Digistore this version was only distributed to DigiStore 2 customers.

     New features & bug fixes

  • Implementation of DigiStore 2 with DXA252 professional industrial digital camera.
  • Scanner 3 related errors have been fixed by using a new Firmware 1.14.22

     Limitations

  • Annotation of the DigiStore 2 images does not work correctly.
  • Annotation too small and therefore difficult to read on the report printout.
  • Exported .cpf images from DigiStore 2 can not be opened by VideoScan.
    VideoScan will create a GPE (General Protection Error).
  • The use of DigiStore with CANON PowerShot G2 and/or G5 are temporarily disabled. They will be enabled again in the next winCATS version 1.4.1.
  • Linomat 5 qualification does not work.
  • The use of HV-C20 analog video camera is no longer supported.

 

Related to Version 1.3.4 (released 06 Oct 2004):

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP1

     New features & bug fixes

  • The implementation of user policies for Method Editor and Method User has been improved.
  • Detection of COM-ports has been improved and works also with Windows XP.
  • A number of optimizations and fixes have been implemented.

     Limitations

  • Scanner 3 created a GPE when Start-pos > 65 mm
  • Scanner 3 “QuickScan” in Fluorescence mode showed on some occasions a problem.

 

Related to Version 1.3.3:

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP1

     New features & bug fixes

  • ATS3 communication has been improved to support multiple ATS3 instruments on one PC.
  • winCATS compatibility with .cpf (VideoStore & VideoScan) files has been improved.
  • Several minor problems with the Rf-tool (documentation view and report) have been solved.
  • HV-C20 log messages added.
  • Problems listed below at 1.3.2 have been solved.

     Limitations

  • Still some problems with HV-C20 video camera NTSC version not solved.

 

Related to Version 1.3.2:

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP1.

     New features & bug fixes

  • The new CANON Power Shot G5 camera is implemented in addition to the G2.
  • Simple user rights have been added;
    - Method Editor: Full rights as in previous versions
    - Method User: Same rights as Method Editor but no rights to generate and edit methods or start changed methods.
  • A number of optimizations and fixes have been implemented.
  • The corresponding image acquisition procedure has been improved to support ROI (region of interest) and assure transfer of sharp images only.

     Limitations

  • There is an issue with the instrument name in the winCATS Administrator. If an instrument name is not displayed correctly, please select itin the ‘Licensed components list’ and click Edit, then enter the correct instrument name in the Display name field and, if necessary, delete the name in the installed options field.
  • The setting 'Change password at first login' (winCATSAdministrator) does not work properly. Please deactivate this check box and remember to change the password 'manually' when you run winCATS forthe first time.
  • The Export to CPF writes a file that can not be read by VideoStore/Scan.
  • The winCATS option 3-CCD Video Camera HV-C20 does not support the NTSC version of the HV-C20 camera. This is an issue we probably can not solve soon.

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP4.

     Limitations

  • This version was cancelled due to problems printing the scanner qualification report.

 

Related to Version 1.3.0:

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP4.

     New features & bug fixes

  • The winCATS option 21 CFR Part 11 'compliant ready' has been implemented.
  • Several of the administration tools available in the main menu ADMINISTRATION have been move to a separate winCATS Administrator software were EquiLink installation is performed and Users and rights can be setup. During installation you will be prompted to create the User ID and set a new password for the first administrator.
  • A number of optimizations and fixes have been implemented. 

     Limitations

  • The HV-C20 setup with date before 20/11/04 does not work properly.In casethe HV-C20 installation routine reports 'no winCATS detected' check the file date on your CD. We recommend upgrading to version1.3.4.
  • Somecustomers having purchased an update to winCATS 1.2.x in 2003 may get the wrong expiry date registered during update to 1.3.x. We recommend upgrading to version 1.3.4.

 

Related to Version 1.2.6:  

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP1.

     New features & bug fixes

  • Dual wavelength option now supports blank track subtraction.
  • An error in the printout of the manual baseline has been fixed.
  • The 'out of memory' error during manual peak detection has been eliminated.
  • All results are reported with at least 4 digits excluding leading zeroes.
  • Several problems related to AMD2 have been fixed.
  • A number of optimizations and fixes have been implemented. 

     Limitations

  • The Canon PSG2 driver is installed incorrectly by version 1.2.6.
  • Pleasecopy the file PSG2.ds from the directoryWINNTTWAIN_32CAMAGPS to thedirectory WINNTTWAIN_32CAMAG anddelete the file twsrc.ds in thisdirectory WINNTTWAIN_32CAMAG in caseit is still there.
  • HV-C20 Source Manager: Do not activate the 'ROI' button while the image is live.
  • NewOQwinCATS.ini file for the Internet download version of winCATS is available for Windows 2000 / NT4. Save the file as OQwinCATS.ini inthewinCATS directory.
  • In case of trouble with the Canoncamera may be caused by insufficient rights writing to registry. Please email support at camag.com and we will send you an executable to set the correct registry entries.

 

Related to Version 1.2.5:

This version has been tested and released on Windows 2000 SP1.

     New features & bug fixes

  • The problem saving method and analysis files under Windows NT4 and Windows 2000 SP2 & 3 has been solved.

     Limitations

  • In case of trouble with the Canon camera, this may be caused by insufficient rights writing to registry. Please email support at camag.com and we will send you an executable to set the correct registry entries.

 

Related to Version 1.2.4:

This version has been tested and released on Windows NT4 SP6a and Windows 2000 SP1.

     New features & bug fixes

  • The TLC step development supports now the AMD2 (Automated Multiple Development) device.
  • The TLC step Documentation will now support the HV-C20 Video Camera.
  • The option Track optimization with the TLC Scanner 3 is now available
  • The Michaelis-Menten (1 & 2) regression function has been implemented.
  • winCATS can now calculate ci (confidence interval).
  • The colors of the analog curves can be selected by the user.
  • A new input dialog for solutions has been implemented and the units have been extended to include v/v (volume/volume) and w/v (weight/volume) dimensions.
  • The result of the unknown can be expressed in % of the reference amount.
  • Several printing and displaying routines have been optimized.
  • Several input routines for the ATS4-FreeMode have been optimized.

     Limitations

  • The Internet update files downloaded before 22/4/03 were shipped with afaulty CRC file and the file winCATS.exe.local is missing. Please download this zip archive and unpack the files into the winCATSdirectory.
  • The select printer dialog has no effect on the print preview, nor do changed parameters affect the hardcopy. This dialog is used ONLY for selecting the printer.
  •  The decimal separator must be set to . (point). This will be done by the installation script. Incase of trouble, please open Control panel - Regional options - Numbers and enter a . in the input field for Decimal separator.
  • The communication does not handle interruptions (abort) correctly and it may happen, that a Scanner measurement is interrupted if, e.g. the Linomat 5 signals "ready".
  • The user rights are not completely implemented; this will be combined with the implementation for the 21CFR11 features.

    NT4 users - please note: There are known issues during 'file save' caused by incompatibility of Microsoft system .dll's running version 1.2.4 under NT4.

 

Related to Version 1.2.3:

This version has been tested and released on Windows NT4 SP6a and Windows 2000 SP1.

     New features & bug fixes

  • The crc test program has been updated to Windows 32-bit and renamed to OQWINCATS.exe.
  • The file OQWINCATS.ini holding the necessary crc data was shipped including the ADM2.dll which does not belong to version 1.2.3 on CD's and Internet downloads dated before 28/Nov/02. Please replace the file OQWINCATS.INI with this file not containing reference to the AMD2.dll.
  • Several issues, i.e. in the Substances grid, the report and the Main- & Sub-Component evaluation have been fixed.
  • The Login routine has been changed and the new routine does not recognize the old user names and password. Please define new users according to the procedure described in Help and installation instructions

     Limitations

This version has been tested and released on Win NT4 SP6a and Win 2000.

     New features & bug fixes

     Limitations

  • The TWAIN Source Manager will crash if the memory card is not inserted into the camera (fixed in Source Manager version 1.3).
  • The select printer dialog has no effect on the print preview, nor do changed parameters affect the hardcopy. This dialog is used ONLY for selecting the printer.
  • Definition Samples Ref Amount: The dilution volumes that might be in the ‘to/from’ fields are still used during calibration even if Dilution has been turned off on the Definitions-General page.
  • The decimal separator must be set to . (point). Open Control panel- Regional options - Numbers and enter a . in the input field for Decimal separator.
  • The communication does not handle interruptions (abort) and it may happen, that a Scanner measurement is interrupted if, e.g. the Linomat5 signals "ready".
  • The user rights are not completely implemented;
    this will be done with the reimplementation for the 21CFR11 features.

 

Related to Version 1.2.1:

This version has been tested and released on Win NT4 SP6a and Win 2000.

      Limitations

  • The manual setting of distance between track parameter of the sample applicator does not work correctly. This manual setting is not used for applications in version 1.2.1.
  • It is not possible to create a method or analysis file 'based on' an analysis file already containing images.
  • winCATS 1.2.x can not use , (comma) as decimal symbol.
  • In the unlikely case that you have comma selected, please open Control Panel - Regional Options - Numbers and enter a . (point) as decimal symbol.
  • The problem for the winCATS methods and analyses not loading properly was found to be caused by a limitation in the MFC storage routine, which does not allow some characters being part of the Substance name string.
  • We will change the use of this string in a future version but until then you may not use any character below hex 20 (control characters) in the first position of a substance name and you may not use any of the following characters in any position of the substance name:
  • - "/" (forward slash), "" (backslash), "-" (hyphen), ":" (colon), "." (point) and "!" (exclamation mark). These characters are automatically replaced by a "_" (underscore).
